The preparation of nonspherical microspheres by seeded polymerization: The effect of crosslinking density of seed particles on the particles morphology |
| 초록 |
Nonspherical polymeric microspheres were produced by the seeded polymerization of semi-interpenetrating polymer network (semi-IPN) polystyrene (PS) seed particle. The effect of the crosslinking density of the seed particles on the nonspherical morphology was studied. The various morphologies were obtained by controlling the crosslinking density of seed particles. The nonspherical structure of the particles was observed during the swelling process of second monomer mixture. This phenomenon was due to monomer-polymer phase separation. This process was monitored utilizing an optical microscope (OM) and morphology of particles was confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). |
