Electromagnetic shields are highly effective when they are made of materials characterized by a high conductivity, high permeability or structural parameters so that the attenuation level of the field that propagates through it is high. In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes decorated with various compositions (MDCNTs) and weight fractions of copper, iron and nickel as electromagnetic shielding fillers were prepared, surface morphology and magnetic properties were investigated. A wet impregnation method was applied to decorate various copper, iron and nickel on carbon nanotubes. The MDCNTs were used as fillers to prepare ABS resin based composites, in which the weight fractions of MDCNTs used were 1, 3, 5 and 7 wt%. The magnetic properties of the samples were measured using VSM. The electromagnetic shielding properties of ABS/MDCNTs composites were evaluated in accordance with ASTM ES-7(10kHz~3GHz) and ASTM 4935-10(1.5GHz~10GHz) standards. |
