We report the synthesis and surface properties of partially fluorinated polymer such as PVDF, P(VDF-co-HFP), PTrFE, and P(TrFE-co-HFP). Polymers, which feature similar molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution, were prepared by solution radical polymerization using initiator diisopropylperoxydicarbonate in 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane. To observe surface morphology and contact angle of thin film, spin-coated films on slide glass were crystallized by slow cooling from 200 ℃. According to experimental results on the spin-coated thin polymer films, the surface roughness of polymer films was decreased dramatically with the increase of HFP content. In addition, compared to the corresponding PVDF and PTrFE homopolymer film, the F/C atomic ratio on the surface of copolymer films was increased as the HFP content is increased. As a result, surface energy of copolymer films was deceased with the increase of HFP content. |
