Nerve gases have become an international social concern in today’s research area. Here, pH tunable pyrene based a turn-on fluorescent probe has developed for nerve agent mimics detection. GMA and DMA were copolymerized by RAFT polymerization to yield p(GMA-co-DMA)(P1). The subsequent reaction of the secondary amine of 2-(2-((pyren-1-ylmethyl)amino)ethoxy)ethanol with epoxide unit of P1 yielded P2. The probe showed an enhancement in fluorescence signal upon addition of DCNP in water as well as in vapour phase. In low pH there was no change in fluorescence enhancement observed upon exposure of DCNP, whereas the fluorescence intensity of the probe remarkably enhanced while changing the pH from 7 to 10 towards varying amount of DCNP. Thus, these pH-controllable properties of P2 can offer new insights into the design of new stimulai responsive polymeric probes, for fluorescence turn-on detection of nerve agent mimics. |
