Synthesis of Polymer Brushes onto Nano-Silica |

Alkoxysilane-functionalized polyisoprene was polymerized in advance for grafting polymer brush onto silica particle using 'grafting onto' method. Over 90% functionalization yield was obtained when using TPOS as a chain-end functionalization agent. The concentration was in the ratio of 5:1 of [TPOS] and [Li]. The range ofMW of polymer brushes onto silica particle were 2,000~10,000g/mol, respectively and the grafting weight percent of polymer brush were 20% and 40~50%, respectively. the synthesized particle with polymer brush were analyzed by SEM, GPC, 1H-NMR, and TGA. |
