Performance of Submerged Membrane Bioreactor with Waste Lime Carrier for Wastewater Treatment |

The submerged membrane bioreactor (SMBR) can be defined as a system that combines biological degradation of wastewater effluents with membrane filtration. The major potential advantage of this technology is found in the field of water reuse. Nevertheless, the effective application of membrane bioreactors (MBRs) is limited by membrane fouling and the associated cost and energy burdens. In this work, we investigated the filtration characteristics of the membrane by packing a waste lime support carrier in to the membrane bioreactor process to improve the removal efficiency of nutrients and to minimize membrane fouling. |
