Suzuki polycondensation reaction is a powerful method to synthesize organic semiconducting materials (eg. OTFT, OLED, OPV). However, during the reaction, we encounter the problem of diboronic acid (diboron ester)s having low stability and being hard to purify. By introducing bis(trifluoroborate)s, we showed another route to get better stability and easier purification, but still good reactivity. Using our protocol, we synthesized P1 from dipotassium bis(trifluoroborate) of 2-alkylbenzotriazole (M1) and dibromobenzothiadiazole (M2) with Pd catalyst and Li-based inorganic bases. Moreover, we have recently moved forward with synthesis with other monomers . We suggest that there is a possibility to make other semiconducting polymers that show high performance with our unique polymerization protocol. |
