Magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) have special properties so that they can be used as a separation tool for biological compounds or as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In this study, highly monodispersed magnetic core - silica shell NPs are prepared through Stober method. Then, quantum dots (QDs) are introduced on the surface of silica which contains the magnetic NPs. The iron oxide–core/quantum dots-shell type nanostructure contains both highly fluorescent and magnetic property. These multifunctional NPs have great advantages and potentials in bioassay, especially in the field of bio imaging and cell-separation. |
