We present a study about adhesion behavior between polystyrene (PS)-based spherical particles and graphene oxide (GO). Since colloidal PS particles in this work is intended to have positive surface charges, GO containing large amount of negatively charged oxygenated groups, can be attached on PS particles via ionic attractive force. When assembling charged PS particles with GO, mixing environments such as the concentration ratio of GO over PS and the corresponding collision frequency between them would highly affect the adhesion behavior of GO on the surface of PS, and thus, assembly of GO with charged PS particles has been performed with different mixing order. When prepared by simultaneous mixing, highly aggregated morphology without notable feature was found. On the other hands, when prepared by drop-wise addition of GO dispersion to PS dispersion and vice versa, perfect development of individual GO-wrapped spherical particles and interesting morphologies were identified. |
