Release properties of naproxen loaded biodegradable polymers based multi-layer biomaterials |

In this work, multi-layer biomaterials were prepared using allbanggae starch (ABG), sodium alginate (SA), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), naproxen (NP) as the target drug, and glycerol (GL) as a plasticizer. The first and third-layer were prepared SA based biomaterials, the second-layer was prepared NP loaded ABG based biomaterials. The prepared multi-layer biomaterials were characterized by FT-IR and FE-SEM. Their physical properties were also evaluated. The NP release properties of multi-layer biomaterials were performed using standard buffer solutions and artificial skin at 36.5℃. Results of NP release properties indicated that NP release rate of multi-layer biomaterials was slower than the single-layer biomaterials. In case of NP release using artificial skin, NP release rate of multi-layer biomaterials was about 5 times slower than the single-layer biomaterials. From the results, we suggest that SA_ABG based multi-layer biomaterials can be sustained release of NP. |
