제목 Toughening of Poly(lactic acid) by Melt Blending with a Epoxidized Natural Rubber
초록 Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable thermoplastic which is used for producing packaging materials and hygine products. Due to the brittleness of PLA, it has limited in the packaging and structural applications, which require flexibility. Blending PLA with other polymers provides a more practical and economic way of toughening PLA. Epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) is a chemically modified natural rubber having epoxy groups on the backbone. In this study, PLA was melt blended with ENR in an internal mixer, to enhance the toughness of PLA. The effect of ENR content on morphology, thermal and mechanical properties of the PLA/ENR blends were investigated by means of SEM, DSC, DMA, and tensile test.
