Microstructure investigation of 85 % vinylidene fluoride- 15 % trifluoroethylene copolymer |

In a previous work, we obtained monomer reactivity ratios(rVDF=0.53, rTrFE=0.56) by synthesis of the whole range copolymer composition and The Fineman -Ross method. This results indicate that trifluoroethylen (TrFE) is more likely to be adjacent to vinylidene fluoride(VDF) than itself. In this work, we investigated microstructure of poly(VDF/TrFE) with 85/15 mol% by 300 MHz 19F liquid-state NMR and identified the carbon pentad sequence (central –CF2-) mol% by quantitative analysis. It was found that alternating sequence (H-T) with TrFE unit (-CHF-CF2-), -CH2-CF2-CHF-CF2-CH2- is included 16% in this polymer chain. The detailed results concerning the carbon pentad sequence and influence of fluorine number bonded to α, β-carbon group will be described. |
