P3HT has been used as the hole transporting material in organic thin film transistor (OTFT) and photovoltaic cell, because of its excellent charge transport property, chemically tunable electronic property. Despite these beneficial properties, low crystallinity of P3HT films, which results in low charge-carrier mobility in P3HT films, has been a main obstacle in the aforementioned applications. For the purpose of improving this limitation, we have synthesized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) modified by P3HT. The modified MWCNTs was synthesized by reacting mono-functionalized P3HT with carboxylated MWCNTs. When a small amount of this modified MWCNTs were added to P3HT, the hole mobility of the mixture was increased as compared to the simple mixing of P3HT and MWCNTs, since the modified MWCNTs are dispersed more uniformly and therefore act as conducting bridge for the hole transport. Hole mobility and OTFT performance are examined as a function of the amount of MWCNTs. |
