To enhance charge transport and reduce charge recombination in active layer, poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT) with higher regioregularity(RR) was synthesized by Grignard Metathesis Method (GRIM). Nano-scale active layer was prepared from the P3HT: Phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) mixture by using a nanopatterned PDMS stamp. Nanopatterned active layer showed higher photocurrent generation and incident to photon to current conversion efficiency (IPCE) due to enhanced charge transport through ordered structure of active layer. Degree of RR was critical to the photovoltaic cell efficiency and other properties. P3HT regioregularity (94%, 99.9%), nano-scale surface morphology, and change of refractive index were confirmed by 1H-NMR, atomic force microscopy(AFM), and ellipsometry. The preparation and characterization of the nanostructured photovoltaic cell will be presented. |
