Anisotropic Electrical Characteristics of Organic Transistors Based on Single-Crystalline Microribbon of Triisopropylsilylethynyl Pentacene |

In this study, we reported anisotropic charge transport characteristics with crystal orientations of TIPS-PEN which is a high performance semiconductor material and whose device can be fabricated via solution process. For this experiment, TIPS-PEN single crystalline was made by using the solvent-exchange method in the solution phase. To investigate anisotropic charge transport characteristics, field-effect transistor device was fabricated, whose source to drain direction was perpendicular to each crystal directions([100], [010]) which were defined by the X-ray diffraction and charge transport was measured with changing temperature from 80K to 300K. We found that electrical properties were strongly correlated with crystal orientation. The anisotropic charge transport characteristics in spite of similar lattice constant a,b(a:7.565Å, b:7.750Å) can be explained by the different π-orbital overlap density with crystal orientations. |
