Characterization of clacium phosphate-coated titanium powders |

It is well-known that titanium has excellent biocompatibility and mechanical strength. In order to further improvement of its biological functionality, we attempted to prepared calcium phosphate thin film on the surface of titanium particles. There are several calcium phosphate ceramics that have been subject to intensive investigations for the use of hard tissue replacement. In this study, we utilized the calcium phosphate film developed in our laboratory for the coating on the surface of titanium particles. The variation of the surface morphology dependent on the treatment time was observed using SEM and TEM microscopes. The zeta potential of the surface of the Ti-particles was measured since the electrical properties of the biomaterials greatly affect the cellular responses. |
