Study of Solid Polymer Electrolyte for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell |

We have synthesized solid polymer material to enhance mechanical properties of polymer electrolyte for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). The overall conversion efficiency of a solid polymer electrolyte for DSSC was evaluated, after NaI/I2 was added in polymer material. The coordinations between salt and the ether group of polymer electrolyte were confirmed by FT-IR and XRD. Ionic conductivity for polymer electrolyte have been measured by impedence analysis. The maximum ionic conductivity for polymer/NaI/I2 electrolytes was 2.7 x 10-5 S/cm at room temperature, implying their good applicability to dye-sensitized solar cells. The cell performances for dye-sensitized solar cell using polymer/NaI/I2 electrolytes are measured under light source. The best results for this system(polymer/NaI/I2) are short circuit current density (Jsc) of 5.57 mA/cm2, open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.59V, fill factor (FF) of 57 % and the overall energy conversion efficiency (η) of 1.8 % at 100 mW/cm2.
