This paper contains the result of analysis conducted by PLG, Inc. to evaluate hazard zone of natural gas venting from vent stacks. The analysis evaluate the fire hazard and odor impact zone from the venting of natural gas pipelines. The analysis focused particularly on high rise buildings as potential elevated ignition sources. PLG calculated hazard zone in which the natural gas concentration is larger than the Lower Flammability Limit (LFL). The result of site survey and dispersion analysis were combined together to lead to a conclusion whether a vent stack is far enough from possible ignition sources.
