A Study on Polyamic acids Prepared from Functional diamines for Vertically Aligned Liquid Crystal Display Device |

A series of polyimides has been prepared from cyclobutane-1,2,3,4 -tetracarboxylic dianhydride [CBDA] and various functional diamines with aliphatic or alicyclic side chain by two-step polymerization, which can be used for vertically aligned liquid crystal alignment layer. The polyimide cured at the temperature 200~230℃ showed excellent transparency above 90% and they revealed high glass transition temperature above 240℃. Further, in this study, we had investigated relationship of several electro-optic properties required for liquid crystal display device and chemical structure of polyimides.
