The electrochemical performance of polymer gel electrolytes were investigated in terms of ionic conductivity, electrochemical stability and cell behaviors. It was found that the conductivity of the polymer gel electrolytes was higher than 1.5 x 10-3 S/cm at 21.6 wt% polymer content. It also shows a maximum ionic conductivity of 2.6 x 10-3 S/cm at room temperature, which is comparable to conventional liquid electrolytes, but the rate capability of lithium-ion cells comprising polymer gel electrolytes is not better than the conventional cell. While adding the polymer, the mechanical strength of gel polymer electrolytes was enhanced but the ionic conductivity of gel polymer was decreased. It indicates that the ionic conductivity of gel polymer electrolytes depends on polymer content. |
