제목 Exposure Assessment of Benzene from Groundwater Occurred in Dwelling
초록 The exposure pathways of volatile organic compounds from contaminated groundwater are typically categorized as inhalation, ingestion, and dermal absorption. In detail, the inhalation exposure is the inflow of organic compounds into human body by respiration of contaminated indoor air containing them which is released from groundwater and distributed in house. The ingestion exposure means the direct uptake of groundwater or soil mainly by children during play. This study tried to quantify and analyze the internal dose of benzene occurred in dwelling. First of all, two dermal absorption pathways such as vapor phase benzene and dissolved benzene in groundwater were considered. Additionally, the consistent exposure scenario for dermal absorption based on the inhalation case was framed and introduced to calculate the internal dose and compared with above the case of inhalation and ingestion pathways. The results obtained from this study would help to plan for the reduction of the health risk associated with the contaminated groundwater by various organic compounds.
