Intelligent Biodegradable Polymeric Nanocarriers for Cancer Therapeutics |

Based on the previous works and in view of the physiological repellents of drug delivery in vivo, our recent efforts are focused on the design and investigation of tumor tissular or intracellular stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems with biodegradable polymers (e.g. polyesters and polypeptides) as matrices. Various merits such as enhanced drug loading, controlled release as well as improved therapeutic efficacy toward animal models have been achieved through the dexterous design and accurate preparation of smart polymeric nanocarriers. The antitumor drugs, such as doxorubicin, paclitaxel, docetaxel, 10-hydroxycamptothecin and cisplatin, were loaded into the intelligent polymeric nanocarriers individually or collectively. All the drug-loaded nanocarriers exhibited improved cancer therapy efficacy in vitro and in vivo as compared with free drugs demonstrating great prospects for clinical chemotherapy applications. |
