C-H Bond Activation and CO2 Activation over M-ZSM-5 |

Activation of CO2 is considered as a Holy Grail in catalysis together with C-H activation of hydrocarbons such as alkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons. Specially C-H bond activation of methane is considered as one of the toughest challenge and moreover simultaneous activation together with CO2 is even more harder due to quadruple molecular nature of CO2. In this study simultaneous activation was successfully illustrated in the concurrent feeding of CO2 and methane over metal loaded ZSM-5 catalysts. And considerable rate of formation of oxygenates such as methanol and acetic acid were confirmed in the continuous flow fixed-bed reactor. And the ability of CO2 activation as an oxidant in the formation of methanol and coupling with methane into acetic acid were confirmed. And DFT calculation also will be provided that methane could be homolytic dissociated to give hydrogen and methyl-M species to be reacted with activated CO2 into methanol or acetic acid. |
