제목 | Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Biodegradable Polymer/Polypropylene Blends |
초록 | Biodegradable polymeric materials have good ecological advantages over other nondegradable plastics, however, they have poor mechanical properties. Poly(butylenes succinate) (PBS) is one of the most famous biodegradable polymer. In this study, PBS blends were prepared from commercial PBS homopolymer and various maleated polypropylene (mPP) compositions, 0wt% to 20wt%, by in-suit melt mixing method using a twin screw extruder to enhance their mechanical and thermal properties. Their mechanical and thermal properties were investigated by universal testing machine (UTM), small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and melt flow index (MFI). From the SAXS data, the d-spacing in the PBS with mPP blends was improved as increasing contents of mPP. At the 20 wt% of mPP content, the MFI value was dramatically decreased. Fig. 1.
