The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of photovoltaic devices is largely affected by light absorption property and charge mobility of active layers as well as energy difference between the HOMO of p-type material and LUMO of n-type material. Thus in order to increase the PCE of organic solar cells, new p-type materials should be developed such that their absorption ranges are wide enough along with high molar absorptivity. In this work, we attempted to synthesize a conjugated polymer with alternating isoindigo (II) and naphthalene (NT) units (PII-NT) and a small molecule consisting of NT, II and NT (NT-II-NT). Their synthesis and basic characterizations, such as the thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties will be presented along with performances of the synthesized materials-based photovoltaic devices. |
