Quasi-solid electrolytes (QSEs) which possess moderate ion conductivity and high physical stability have been widely developed for replacing conventional volatile liquid electrolytes for the applications to various electrochemical devices such as dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). However, the efficient injection processes of the QSEs have not been fully developed yet. In addition, rheological properties of QSEs should be optimized for high efficiency as well as efficient injection. In this regard, we have developed novel printable paste type of QSEs composed of liquid electrolyte with low volatile solvent, polyethers, and surface modified SiO2 nanoparticles specifically for flexible DSSC applications.
