Effect of the Compatibilizer on the Morphology of PP/EOC Blends |

Polymer blends have become an increasingly important area of research activity. Three different types of compatibilizers were used in order to study the effect of the compatibilizer content on the morphology of polypropylene (PP) and ethylene-octene copolymer (EOC) blends system. The blends of PP/EOC/compatibilizer were prepared by melt mixing with twin screw extruder with various compositions. The influence of the compatibilizer on the morphology, mechanical and thermal properties was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), universal testing machine (UTM), and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), respectively. The increasing of compatitibilizer content decreases the domain size of the dispersed phase and increases mechanical properties. |
