Ring-Opening Polymerization of Trimethylene carbonate initiated by Poly(ethylene glycol) using HCl·Et2O as Monomer Activator |
초록 |
Poly(trimethylene carbonate) has been widely used in biomedical field because of their good biocompatibility and mechanical properties. Poly(ethylene glycol) presents outstanding physico-chemical and biological properties, including higher hydrophilicity, solubility in water, lack of toxicity, absence of antigenicity and immunogenicity. In this study, a series of methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(trimethylene carbonate) diblock copolymers were synthesized by ring-opening polymerization in presence of HCl·Et2O. We investigated that kinetics for the ring-opening polymerization were carried out in various condition such as a variation with polymerization time, amount of catalyst, and temperature. In conclusion, the polymerization of TMC in the presence of HCl·Et2O gave diblock and triblock copolymers composed of PEG and PTMC by an activated monomer mechanism.
