Natural fiber of hemp was adopted as a reinforcing material of biocomposites in order to improve mechanical and rheological properties of biodegradable poly(butylene succinate) (PBS). PBS/hemp biocomposites with various compositions (1, 2.5, 5, and 10wt% of hemp) were prepared by melt blending method using Brabender in this study. The morphology of fractured surface of biocomposites was observed using a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Mechanical properties of biocomposites were investigated by universal testing machine (UTM) and rheological properties of them were characterized by rotational rheometer. It was conformed that mechanical properties such as tensile strength and rheological properties such as shear viscosity of biocomposite were dramatically improved as increasing in the hemp content. |
