Triply bicontinuous porous structures have been applied in various research fields including photonic crystals and electrodes for energy devices. Among many 3D fabrication techniques, holographic lithography (HL) is a facile approach that can produce periodic structures in micrometer scale defect-free over a large area. Here, we discuss the design of periodic macroporous structures by multi-beam interference lithography. Particularly, application of variety of photosensitive materials, including negative-tone and positive-tone, organic-inorganic hybrids, and responsive hydrogels, to interference lithography is discussed. The directly fabricated 3D structures are often used as templates for backfilling of various materials. We overview the application of various backfilling chemistries and characterize the inverted 3D structures. |
