제목 | Preparation of pore-filled anion exchange membranes with different chain lengths of PEGMA and their electrochemical properties |
초록 | The main industrial application of electrodialysis (ED) is the production of drinking water from brackish water and seawater. ED is also used for desalination of aqueous solutions in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Thus, the development of stable and cost effective ion-exchange membranes (cation- and anion-exchange membrane) with good physico- and electro-chemical properties is highly desired. For the preparation of the anion exchange membranes, a porous polyethylene (PE) substrate was immersed into vinyl-benzyl chloride/divinyl benzene monomer solutions and thermally polymerized with BPO initiator. Poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) with different hydrophilic side chain of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) was used as a co-monomer to make the membranes have improved flexibility. Hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity of the anion exchange membrane was able to be adjusted by varying the chain lengths of the PEG. |
