In this study, a manufacturing method of HDPE-based carbon fibers was studied using a hybrid stabilization technique. The HDPE precursor fibers were primarily cross-linked with the various conditions, and then they have stabilized again in the sulfuric acid under 80-110°C. The hybrid-stabilized fibers were carbonized at a temperature of 900°C. The thermal properties of hybrid-stabilized fibers were analyzed by a DSC and a TGA. The surface morphology, microstructure, and physical properties of the resulting carbon fibers were analyzed by SEM, XRD, and UTM, respectively. |
