Carbonaceous materials, such as amorphous carbon, mesoporous carbon, and carbon nanotube, conducting polymers, and noble- and transition-metal oxides have been used as electrode materials. Liquid phase plasma (LPP) is reportedly a useful tool to synthesize nanoparticles on supporting materials. In this study, a new strategy of synthesizing manganese oxide/activated carbon composite as dielectric material for capacitor using an LPP reduction system is presented. Spherical-shaped manganese oxide nanoparticles were dispersed uniformly on carbon powder surface. The specific capacitance of the composite increased with increasing quantity of manganese oxide precipitate on the carbon powder upto a certain quantity. The manganese oxide/carbon composite containing an optimum quantity of iron oxide precipitate exhibited the smallest resistance and the largest initial resistance slope. |
