This work presents the effect of chemical treatment on the catalytic activity of an aged catalyst with the aid of XRD, SEM, N2 adsorption, EDX, and ICP. An aged commercial Pt/AC catalyst was treated with different chemicals such as acid and alkali aqueous solutions, cleaning agent and steam to remove various contaminants accumulated on the surface of catalyst. The regenerated catalysts were examined for the catalytic oxidation of toluene in comparison with aged Pt/AC catalyst. The experimental results indicated that the regeneration procedure employed greatly improves the catalytic activity of an aged catalyst toward VOC oxidation. |
