Conducting Core-Shell Poly(Styrene/Pyrrole) Nanoparticles prepared by Fe3+-Catalyzed Oxidative Polymerization and Emulsifier-Free Emulsion Polymerization |

We tried to reduce a cost and an effort to synthesize the core-shell poly(St/Py) nanoparticles by using one-step reaction. The core-shell structure of the resulting nanoparticles was proved by SEM and TEM analysis. Synthetic mechanism of core-shell poly(St/Py) nanoparticles was proposed by time-evolution SEM analysis. The size of the resulting nanoparticles was increased as the concentration of NaSS decreased, and it was proved by SEM and TEM analysis. Surface charge of the nanoparticles was changed according to the concentration of NaSS and measured by Zeta-potential analysis. The resulting nanoparticles showed high conductivity from 0.11 S/cm to 8.67 S/cm after doping and drying. Doping state of self-doped core-shell poly(St/Py) nanoparticles with NaSS as a dopant was also studied in this study. This new strategy is universal for the synthesis of many other conjugated materials or composite particles with controlled morphology. |
