Poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/Poly(ethylene terephthalate glycol) (PETG) blends with various PETG contents were prepared by melt compounding. The objective of this study was to investigate how the change of PETG contents affected the physical properties and crystallization behavior of PLA/PETG blends. The elongation at break of PLA/PETG blends increased with increase PETG content while tensile strength and modulus are decreased. With the addition of PETG, improvement of toughness was achieved. And increasing PETG contents, the glass transition temperature (Tg) increased and the melting peak showed more shoulder-like. When PETG content in the blends was less than 20wt%, the crystallization rate increased with increase PETG content during isothermal crystallization, indicating that PETG acts as a nucleation agent on the crystallization of PLA. |
