A study on the characteristics of PET/PEI/CNT nanocomposites |

Nanocomposites of polyethylene terephthalate(PET) and polyether imide(PEI) with carbon nanotube(CNT) were prepared by melt mixing in a twin-screw extruder at varying carbon-nanotube loading. In the study, blend of PET/PEI were prepared by quenching or annealing after hot press because lower critical solution temperature(LCST) exists. Amorphous PEI having relatively high melt viscosity than PET affects crystallization behavior of PET in blend of PET/PEI. Electrical conductivity was measured by Digital multi-meter. Crystallization and phase separation behavior have been investigated using Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). Morphology of PET/PEI/CNT nanocomposites were observed with transmission electron microscopy(TEM). |
