We investigated effects of metal-cation incorporated TiO2 on the dye-adsorption time and the photovoltaic performance of TiO2-based soler cells. Metal cations were incorporated on TiO2 surface via a dip-coating process using an aqueous metal salt solutions. The modified TiO2 films were applied to the photoelectrodes of the solar cells, and their dye-adsorption capability and photovoltaic performance were investigated. When the metal cations were incorporated TiO2 surface, higher amounts of Z907 dyes were adsorbed on the cation-modified TiO2 by the surface electrostatic interaction, compared with that of the bare TiO2 surface. However, excess dyes adsorbed on the TiO2 surface reduced the photovoltaic performance, due to a lowered electron injection efficiency by the presence of aggregated dyes. |
