A facile and greener route for direct synthesis of disubstituted urea with a good yield by reacting CO2 with cyclohexylamine has been developed using a catalyst system comprising ionic liquid (IL) and alkali metal salts such as acetate, benzoate, and hydrogen phthalate. The effects of reaction time, temperature, pressure, solvents, and different types of ILs on the productivity of disubstituted urea were also investigated. This practical protocol can provide the use of inexpensive salts as catalyst as well as easy isolation from the product mixture, thereby leading to environmentally benign synthetic approach. |
