Water electrolysis system is promising technology to produce hydrogen without any pollutant which can replace the fossil fuels. MEA-based water electrolyzer has compact cell structure in order to minimize the ohmic resistance as well as increase the gas-product selectivity. The transition metal phosphide (TMP) has been investigated as a cathode for PEMWE. In addition, the HER activity can be improved from the synergistic effect of alloying the transition metals. In this study, Iron-based transition metal phosphide catalyst was fabricated by electrodeposition method. The HER activity of the Iron-based transition metal phosphide catalyst has been investigated in acidic medium. Furthermore, the electrodeposited copper foam (CF) was used as a metallic support which can provide the large electrochemical surface area. Finally, the Iron-based TMP on CF was introduced as a cathode for PEMWE showing the reasonable cell performance. |
