Helical polymers have attracted many attentions due to their various characteristics, such as high structural stability, chiral irritability, and controlled synthetic systems. Polyisocyanide with bulky side group is one of the most stable helical polymer that maintain their structures at any conditions because of the restricted rotation around the single bonds connecting the main chain carbon atoms. Isocyanides are known to be polymerized in the presence of transition metal catalysts. However, works on controlling physical structures such as molecular weight, its distribution, and preparing block copolymer were relatively limited. One possibility to preparing block copolymer is using click chemistry, but chain end-functionalization of helical polyisocyanides is unprecedented. In this study, we report preparation of polyisocyanide with alkyne end- groups. A arylnickel(Ⅱ) catalyst with alkyne group was synthesized and used in the polymerization of 4-methoxy phenyl isocyanide. |
