제목 Gentamicin conjugated layered double hydroxides composites for antibacterial application
초록 Here, we report the new route to prepare the composites of Gentamicin (GE) and Poly (oligo (ethylene glycol methacrylate))-grafted-layered double hydroxides (LDHs-g-POEGMA-GE) for the antibacterial claim. Initially, we utilized the hydrophilic surface of LDHs to carry out the silane coupling reaction with S′-(3-trimethoxysilyl) propyltrithiocarbonate (BTPT). Then, a poly (oligo (ethylene glycol methacrylate)) was grafted onto the surface of LDHs by the reversible addition−fragmentation chain-transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The hydroxyl end groups of the grafted POEGMA brushes were subsequently converted into carboxyl groups for coupling reaction of gentamicin with the polymer. The in-vitro experiment with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria demonstrated that the LDHs-g-POEGMA-GE composites had more antibacterial activity than LDHs and LDHs-g-POEGMA. The GE conjugated LDHs composites have a great promise in the antibacterial material field.
