Superhydrophobic Surfaces based on PtBA-b-PMMA Copolymer Micelles |

In this study, we prepared superhydrophobic surfaces with hierarchical structures using a di-block copolymer micelle solution. The block copolymers of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(tert-butyl acrylate) (PtBA), having various block lengths, were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The surface morphologies by casting the PMMA-b-PtBA copolymer micelle solutions are changed by block length ratio and solvent power. In the end, we obtained the stable superhydrophobic surfaces with very high water contact angles and low sliding angles using a simple spray coating of the solution with "crew-cut" micelle. The variation of structure and micelles size of PMMA-b-PtBA were investigated by SEM and DLS. |
