Fabrication of Silver Nanoparticle-embedded Silica nanosphere utilizing PEG for Highly Sensitive SERS Nanoprobes |

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) nanoprobes based on silver nanoparticles (NPs) embedded silica nanosphere have been applied in various biological applications. To improve the sensitivity of SERS nanoprobes via controlling the size of silver NPs, several studies have been reported. Herein, we report a method for controlling the morphology of silver NPs by utilizing PEGs and the stabilizing effect of PEG unit on silver NPs. These nanocomposites can be prepared under mild condition and there is no need for high reaction temperature. By increasing the size of silver NPs, we could observe that the Raman intensity was also increased. These nanocomposites with increased Raman intensity showed the potential to be used in biosensing or bioimaging. |
