Catalytic properties of Pt-Ni/CeO2 catalyst for WGS reaction |
초록 |
Water gas shift (WGS) reaction is one of the key catalytic stages in the on-board fuel processor for fuel cell powered vehicle applications. The commercial Cu-Zn/Al2O3 catalyst, though highly active at low temperature, was unsuitable for transportation applications because of their large size and weight, and the deactivation tendency of the copper-based catalysts under the severe conditions encountered in an automotive system. The WGS reaction over Pt-Ni based catalysts was investigated to develop an alternate commercial Cu-Zn/Al2O3 catalyst for the on-board gasoline fuel processor. The catalysts were prepared by coprecipitation and incipient wetness methods, and were characterized by N2 physisorption, CO chemisorption, XRD, TEM and TPD. It was found that Pt-Ni/CeO2 catalyst showed higher activity and stability than the commercial LTS catalyst, even though both catalysts were deactivated during the thermal cycling runs. The results suggest that Pt-Ni/CeO2 catalyst is an attractive candidate for the alternate Cu-Zn/Al2O3 catalyst for automotive applications.
