Organic semiconductors based on oligomers and polymers haverecently received considerable attention for use as active channel materials in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). This preceding work with blends of a small molecule and a polymer was, despite its successes, essentially limited in two ways: by the low mobility values of the polymers used; and, during film formation, by the vertical phase separation that occurred between the polymer and the small molecule material, which can limit the uniformity of the film when applied to coverage of a large area. In this work, in order to achieve ease of solution processing, high charge carrier mobility values, and reproducibility of device properties, we made blends of various ratios of the polymeric organic semiconductor polymer and the small molecule. |
