Polymer-based bulk heterojunction solar cells have been fabricated using blend films composed of a p-type conjugated polymer and n-type material (e.g., PCBM) via solution processes. A quinoxaline-containing segment has been known to be a promising acceptor (A) when combined with fluorene or thiophene (as a donor, D), forming a D-A polymer. In this research, 10-hexylphenothiazine and quinoxaline were chosen as donor and acceptor units, respectively. To gain more insight into the difference between the meta position and para position, two isomers of meta- and para-qunioxaline derivatives were employed to synthesize the copolymers (PPTZQX-m,PPTZQx-p). The polymers were characterized using various analytical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, etc. The polymers were used along with PCBM in fabrication of polymer solar cells. The experimental results will be presented in details. |
