Light-stimuli responsive smart hydrogels bearing azobenzene moieties were prepared by photopolymerization method. The hydrogels are composed of azobenzene-carrying salt monomers (ASM) and azobenzene-bearing vinyl ether (AVE), HEA and TMPTA. Photoisomerization behavior of ASM and AVE was detected by UV-vis spectroscopy. In addition, swelling properties and release behaviors were investigated by swelling kinetics and drug release with Rivavirin as model drugs. After swelling ratio (SR) reached constant, with the light irradiation, SR of photoresponsive hydrogels containing ASM and AVE was declined obviously. The results of SR and release properties were strongly affected by the type of azobenzene monomer and the interior morphology of hydrogel. |
