Natural melanin nano-particle (MNP) is one kind of pigment in living creatures. This MNP has multifunctional properties such as electric-ionic conductivities, biocompatibility, and others. Because of these proprties, MNP is highlighted to the potential in biocompatible electronics. In this research, we fabricated the MNP composite by layer-by-layer assembly with poly(vinyl alcohol). We optimized the LBL condition for highest surface coverage and uniform coating by change of solvents and dipping times. The MNP film was characterized by UV-Vis absorbance, scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. The nano-architecturing of MNP LBL provides complete monolayer formation on large scale substrate and leads to tunable iridescent reflective colors of the MNP coated films. In addition, the charge storage capacities were enhanced by MNP LBL coating and significantly reduced the inflammatory reaction compared to bare ITO. |
