Recently, studies on biomass materials have captured much attention due to the concern about the increase in plastic waste generation. Isosorbide based polycarbonate (ISO-PC) is bio-based plastic, produced from isosorbide monomer. Poly lactic acid (PLA) is a potential alternative to petroleum-based plastics because of its biodegradable property. In this study, ISO-PC/PLA blends were prepared by solution blending. ISO-PC and PLA were dissolved in chloroform, and then precipitated in methanol. To evaluate the miscibility of ISO-PC/PLA blends, the morphology and glass transition behaviors were analyzed by FE-SEM and DMA, respectively. The decomposition temperatures of the blends were observed by TGA. |
